iOS Engineer

Working at Grape

We value high code quality in terms of readability, reusability and maintainabilty the same way we value speed and efficiency of development.

We value participation in open source and encourage developers to release reusable parts of their code under an open source license.

We use two-weekly Scrum sprints and daily standups (in the chat) for planning.

Grape for iOS

Our iOS app is a fully native app, built in-house with Swift. The app is currently undergoing a redesign, together with the Android app and the web client.

Grape is tailored to enterprise customers. We focus on security (like certificate pinning) and the app is configurable via MDM.

Tools and libraries we use (to name a few):

  • Xcode 😉
  • Git, Github
  • CocoaPods
  • Jira for issue tracking
  • Appium
  • Fabric
  • Alamofire
  • Realm and CoreData
  • SocketRocket and MDWamp (for Websockets)

What we are looking for

We are looking for an experienced iOS developer who also has some experience with Android development or is interested in learning it.

You’ll work closely with all different team members at Grape to to build new features and fix bugs. You will be shipping code to thousands of active users.

Our engineers are also very comfortable working directly with customers to tackle bugs and answer tricky support questions. It’s important to write code with customers in mind so that we can provide the best experience possible with Grape.

You are expected to have the following technical skills:

  • High level of Swift programming skills (at least one big real-world project)
  • Ability to work with HTTP and Websocket APIs and help design them.
  • Good knowledge of Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines (HIG) for iOS. You will be working closely together with our designer.
  • Able to implement new features based on wireframes and our design guidelines.

Bonus points:

  • Objective-C experience, some of our libraries are still using it.
  • Experience with Android (Java)
  • Experience with App Extensions

What we value

Clear communication, a positive can-do attitude, open mindedness, patience, empathy and the ability to work independently. We are looking for a person who understands our culture and wants to be part of a team of people passionate about our product.

As one of our core values, working as a No Ego Doer is an important part of being part of our team. You’ll need to be aware of when you have assumptions, and be disciplined about working with other team members in order to test and confirm your ideas.

Perks and benefits

We hope that you’re excited about all the possibilities that come with working at Grape! In addition to our beautiful office close to the city center of Vienna, we also offer the possibility of working remotely. However, we do offer help for your relocation as we want you to feel at home in Vienna. We want you to be happy, inspired and to become the person that you wish to be. You will work with team members around the world and across time zones to build a better culture and product.

We organize a couple of company retreats per year to spend quality time with the whole team. Our latest retreats have been a day trip to Bratislava and a full week in the beautiful alps of Tyrol.

Additionally working at Grape offers these perks and benefits:

  • Shares in our company
  • Highly competitive salary
  • MacBook Pro and two monitors
  • Unlimited amount of coffee and club mate

Write us a mail with a brief text about you, a picture of a swift bird (to make sure that you are able to fully read our job descriptions), CV, if you have one, and (most importantly) links to previous projects and GitHub accounts.
