Working at Grape

We’re a small team of highly efficient and motivated people. As a back-end engineer you will design, build and extend our application, working together closely with three other back-end developers, our iOS and Android team and front-end developers.

You’ll be able to heavily influence the architecture of our application. You’ll get to solve challenges in overall performance, scaling and code organization.We value high code quality in terms of readability, reusability and maintainability the same way we value speed and efficiency of development.

Tools, libraries and aproaches we use (to name a few):

  • Django/Python
  • PostgreSQL, Redis and Elasticsearch
  • Celery
  • Ansible, Docker Compose and Vagrant
  • Websockets
  • Stripe Payment Processing
  • Numerous external APIs for all the services we connect to our application
  • Test-driven development

What we are looking for

You’ll work closely with all different team members at Grape to speed up our front-end development to build new features and products. You will be shipping code to thousands of active users every day.

Our engineers are also very comfortable working directly with customers to tackle bugs and answer tricky support questions. It’s important to write code with customers in mind so that we can provide the best experience possible with Grape.

You are you expected to have the following technical skills:

  • BSc degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with UNIX/Linux environments and distributed systems
  • Experience programming in Python
  • Experience in web programming and/or developing/designing large software systems

Bonus points:

  • Experience with the Django framework and PostgreSQL
  • Experience with Redis and/or Elasticsearch
