Focus. The new Grape Web client – less distractions more efficiency.

By 22. December 2015
The new version of our Web App introduces a light blue new interface with improved speed, better control and a variety of new features. With this version we are officially dropping the “Chat” from our name and the Beta-state from our product.

At Grape we want to empower your team to be efficient. That’s why our next big software update provides Grape for Web with the lightest messenger UI on the market. By stripping distraction from the interface you will be able to focus more on your communication than with any other chat client.
We have been working tirelessly to wrap this package up before Christmas eve and hope you will enjoy the boost in focus for you and your coworkers.

More Stability

At Grape we talk a lot about the future of communication, but innovation is nothing without a solid basis. In Business communication your chat has to work as reliable as a light switch. That’s why we’ve invested over 70% of our development hours in the last 4 months in the reliability of our products.

We are serving more and more large scale enterprises that rely on our service to work efficiently and focused. With the latest improvements we can confidently say that Grape is officially dropping its Beta state.

More Security

We have partnered with one of the greatest names in security research to ensure that your work is safe with us. SBA-Research is now working with us since more then 180 days to create the most secure chat on the market. In the recent security update we have enforced countless security measures and are rolling more on January.

A clean new UI

Working with Grape on your desktop has become even more straightforward. The new design puts even more emphasis on the conversation, removes unnecessary gradients and borders and allows good overview even on smaller laptop screens.

The color codes of the room list were slightly updated but we decided to keep them in the product, as test users found their rooms twice as fast when provided with a color code.

All shared files – a click away

On the right sidebar you can now display all the files shared within a room, sorted by the time they have been posted. For image files and animated gifs we provide you with a preview and a gallery view, allowing designers for example to quickly browse their design iterations.

See, who requires your attention

With a click on the @-symbol you can now display all the messages in the sidebar, that directly mention you or a room that you have joined. With a click you can jump to the conversation and answer it right away.

Improved room and user information

Click the info icon on the top right to access a list of all the people inside a room, read about the room purpose and other important information. At the bottom of this sidebar (provided you are an admin or room creator) you can also find a button to add additional users to the room.

If you are in a private message the info sidebar also displays contact details (if the user provided them), allowing you to write them a mail or start a Skype call directly from within the chat.

Grape is blue now

We have decided to update our  CI and transition our purple grape look to a more professional blue. This will have a huge impact on the general look and feel on the product but will boost your overall experience with the product.

This is also a nod at our logo of 2012, showing the six grapes of communication, unified in professional harmony.

Thank you!

This year was an amazing one for us – thank you to all our users, advisors, investors and friends. In terms of deep service integration and chat intelligence we are just getting started, so stay tuned for the next year and have a happy holiday!
